A World Leader in OEM turning machinery is looking for an Applications Technician II to join their growing team! The Applications Technician will oversee the operational capability of all CNC lathes with integrated 3-axis gantry loaders.

 

The Applications Technician II will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the operations of CNC lathes and turning machinery at company and customer sites
  • Developing work processes and cutting programs
  • Traveling to customer sites for CPK acceptance runoffs and customer machine operator training
  • Performing machine troubleshooting and analysis as required at company and customer sites
  • Installing work holding and cutting tools such as chucks, chuck jaws, tool heads, turning and boring tool holders, gantry, and turn-around gripper jaws
  • Writing Fanuc G-code CNC cutting programs per customer requirements
  • Machine set up and prove-out cutting programs and tools
  • Verifying quality and conformance to print
  • Optimizing cutting processes and gantry automation to achieve required cycle-time while maintaining part quality and tool life
  • Working with cutting tool suppliers to improve performance, cycle-time reduction, chip-control, and tool-life
  • Maintaining project schedules and meeting customer deadlines
  • Traveling up to 50% (must qualify for a company credit card)

The Applications Technician II will have:

  • Associates degree from two-year technical school
  • 2-5 years’ experience with CNC metal cutting machines and turning machinery while customer interfacing
  • Knowledge of tooling and end user applications, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficient at manually writing cutting programs
  • CAD/CAM experience creating CNC cutting programs is a plus
  • PC Literacy
