Application Engineer

A leading automation provider is seeking an Application Engineer to help with custom solution optimization. The Application Engineer will perform application design work including researching data, conducting feasibility and determining design criteria in accordance to required standards.

Knoxville, Tennessee

$80,000-$90,000 Annual Salary, Dependent on Experience + Bonus

The Application Engineer will be responsible for:

Designing of electrical drawings by AutoCAD or Unidraf.
PLC designing and programming for OMRON, Mitsubishi, Allen Bradley and possibly others.
HMI designing and programming for Proface, Omron, Mitsubishi and possibly others.
AGC / AGV System Design and Programming for Daifuku Vehicles/Hardware.
Designing of AGC/AGV system layouts by AutoCAD.
Performing various software and hardware setup and adjustments related to the projects.
Installing and Commissioning target systems.
Providing technical support for existing systems that the company has supplied to customers (i.e., AGC/AGV systems, Vision Systems, PLC Modifications, Control Panels).
Preparing written reports, technical specifications, and material specifications for machine improvement, maintenance, and kaizen programs associated with various customer projects and facilities.
Providing Operation, Configuration and Maintenance Training for customers on the systems noted above.
Working with the supervisor and other sales staff to analyze and resolve problems relative to assigned accounts and product information within your area or other areas required.
Working closely with Engineering and Maintenance Departments at our customers to assist with customer applications.
Regularly evaluating and recommending changes to the supervisor on application issues, such as but not limited to, supplier issues and customer issues.
Implementing use of new technologies and cost-saving techniques and/or materials and improved safety procedures.

The Application Engineer will be rewarded with:

$80,000-$90,000 Annual Salary, Dependent on Experience.

Engineering Degree in Electrical/Electronics, with at least 3 years work experience

Experience in factory automation, especially automotive industry, and electrical/electronic components

Broad knowledge and experience in PLCs, vision systems, motion, industrial safety products, pneumatics, overall factory automation equipment

Excellent in teamwork, time management, communication, information gathering, presentation skills

Excellent attitude in showing respect to others, cooperating with the team, focusing on customer needs, providing directions to others

Proficient in speaking, writing, and reading English

Ability to travel between 20-30% to customer facilities is required.

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and listen. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl or lift / carry heavy objects. Vision abilities required to perform this job include close vision.
