HVAC Apprentice Sheet Metal Apprentice: Level 2 This summary explains the general requirements and responsibilities of this position. The list is not meant to be all-inclusive and may be changed or amended at any time at the Company’s discretion.
Job Requirements:
Must have mastered the apprentice Level 1 position.
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Must be able to perform work from ladders, mechanical lifts, or in opposing spaces
Possess mechanical aptitude
Maintain a great work ethic with the desire to advance professionally and personally
Must have reliable transportation
Ability to maintain a positive and trainable attitude while functioning agreeably with different individuals from other levels of work
Must attend company training as provided
Be able to work flexible hours depending on project requirements. (Standard hours are 7:00am to 3:30pm)
Must own or be willing to purchase all tools on the “Apprentice Tool List” and be willing to purchase additional tools as skill level advances Primary
Responsibilities:
Assist in sheet metal/HVAC installation or assemblies in the shop, buildings, or worksites.
Assist with the set-up and operation of sheet metal/HVAC equipment and machinery.
Clean work area as well as restock supplies and materials as necessary.
Learn company safety policies and procedures.
Learn industry terminology and proper usage.
Load and unload installation equipment and materials, as well as prep sites for install. This includes maintaining and cleaning materials, tools, and job locations to ensure a safe and hazard free work environment.
Must be capable of using all sheet metal tools that are used daily on a job site as well as be able to use said tools in an efficient and timely manner per safety and hazard standards.
Must be willing and able to learn how to install basic duct work, fittings, “B”-type vents, PVC vent, combustion air, condensate drain, low voltage electric skills, and control wiring for units.
Develop blueprint reading skills to identify equipment and material locations.
Learn basic mechanical code requirements as well as company quality control measures.
Help maintain company equipment, tool, and vehicles.
Must obey supervisors and take instruction regarding processes, safety, and experience including travel, functionality, and moving equipment or tools.
Must be accountable for work time, including clocking in and out of a job site at appropriate times daily.
All employees are accountable for safety and health and are permitted to stop work if an unsafe condition is present. Employees should immediately notify their supervisor so that the potential hazard may be contained or corrected. Physical Requirements:
Work outdoors or indoors with dusty, noisy, and hazardous materials.
Work in high elevated places, tight spaces, confined areas, and other adverse locations.
Climb, balance, squat, kneel, and crouch.
Willing to work in all types of weather year-round.
Ability to lift and/or carry up to 75 pounds.
