Description: Machinist
Job Function: Manual Machining
Job Summary:
- Machine foundry-related tooling/components from provided drawings.
Job Responsibilities:
- Machine plates including aluminum, iron & steel.
- Machine pins to close tolerance.
- Drilling, tapping, and milling.
- Maintain a clean workspace.
Skills & Abilities:
- Work from provided detailed manufacturing drawings.
- Efficient in use of manual machine shop equipment such as lathes, drill presses, and vertical milling machines.
- Use of measuring devices such as micrometers, dial indicators, and calipers.
- Ability to interact positively with co-workers.
- Safety conscious.
- Dependable. On-time. Self-starter.
Physical Demands:
- Bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling when retrieving various items.
- Lifting is required when deemed to be safe. Overhead crane provided for heavier items.
- The position is primarily 40 hrs./week however overtime may be required to complete assignments.
- The estimated standing time is approximately 70% during an 8-hour shift.
Equipment used:
- Drill presses
- Lathes
- Milling machine
- Handheld measuring instruments
Job Requirements for Machinists:
- Need to have 2-3 years minimum of Manual Machinist experience with strong manual lathe required!
- Need to be comfortable using all types of tools
- Need to have some forklift and/or overhead crane operating experience
- Requires a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
