Certified Medical Assistant
Snelling is seeking Certified Medical Assistants to join a clinic in San Antonio. This is a clinical role assisting the doctors with patients.
Essential Functions:
- Assist physicians by setting up for procedures and exams, compression garment fitting and wound dressing care, etc.
- Review daily schedules, obtaining charts and charge visits, responsible for ensuring charge visits are completely coded and ready for physician signature
- Administer medication as ordered by the physicians. Monitor response to medications such as repeat blood pressure readings, pain relief, and/or adverse reactions as indicated
- Perform patient history, assessment of current complaint, vital signs measurement and document in medical record and provide direct patient care
- Implement and maintain required OSHA regulations as relates to OSHA bloodborne pathogens and exposure control regulations, follow policies for infection control in handling and disposing of infectious/hazardous waste materials, promote clean, safe and orderly work area
- Perform needed equipment maintenance and upkeep to ensure good working order of medical equipment, sterilize equipment and supplies using germicides and autoclave
- Triage patient to ensure productive office flow
- Document all transactions, phone conversations, treatments, and orders in the patient medical record
- Communicate pre-operative instructions and proper follow-up
- Review medical records (labs, x-rays, pathology reports, CT scans, MRI, etc) and bring them to the attention of the physician
- Call in physician-ordered prescriptions to the pharmacy for patients and chart all notes and care
- Order and maintain inventories of supplies and medications
- Answer/triage patient phone calls, voice mails, and return calls, making decisions and judgments for patient welfare
- Notify hospital personnel of physician orders, faxing
- Maintain patient confidentiality, HIPAA and OSHA compliance
- Assist with check out instructions in order for the front office to schedule the next office appointments
- Promote good communication and team effort among staff, physicians, management, patients, fellow employees and public
- Physician liaison with patients, vascular lab, hospitals personnel, home health agencies, pharmaceutical representatives, and nursing home personnel, etc.
- Develop specific goals and plans, keeping up-to-date, applying new knowledge to prioritize, organize and accomplish your work
- Adheres to policy/procedures of organization
- Ability to maintain regular attendance is an essential function
- High School Diploma
- Graduation from an approved medical assistance program
- Demonstrates ability to work independently and as a team player
- Current CPR Certification
- Broad medical experience with emphasis in direct patient care
- Medical terminology knowledge
- Attention to detail
- Ability to maintain composure when confronted with fast-paced/stressful situation
- Pleasant attitude, neat appearance, and flexibility
- Good organization/time management skills
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Email communication experience
