Shipping Clerk Job Description
POSITIONSUMMARY:
TheShipping Clerk is responsible for verifying and maintaining records on incomingand outgoing shipments. Prepares items for shipment including assembling,addressing, stamping and shipping merchandise or material.
ESSENTIALDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Examineshipment contents and compare with records such as manifests, invoices, ororders to verify accuracy.
· Record shipmentdata, such as weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepanciesfor reporting, accounting, or record-keeping purposes.
· Preparedocuments, such as work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders, to routematerials.
· Contact carrier representatives to makearrangements or to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials.
· Requisitionand store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock.
· Determineshipping methods, routes, or rates for materials to be shipped.
· Computeamounts, such as space available, shipping, storage, or demurrage charges,using computer or price list.
· Reportdefective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
· Maintainthe work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and followsprescribed safety regulations.
· Completetasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimum supervision.
· Workswith Shipping and Receiving Lead to ensure department is working efficientlytogether.
· Inthe absence of the Shipping and Receiving Lead, the Shipping Coordinator willwork with Production Control and/or Director of Operations to ensure all shippingcommitments are completed in a timely and efficient manner.

EDUCATIONAND EXPERIENCE:
· HighSchool diploma or equivalent.
· Oneto three years of experience desired in a manufacturing environment.
· Anyequivalent combination of education and experience determined to be acceptableby management.

PHYSICALDEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Works primarily in a climate controlled manufacturing environment with regular exposure to dust, odors, oil, and fumes with moderate noise. Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about the facility.
- Sedentary, sitting, walking, occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending, and reaching.
- PPE required may include safety glasses and gloves in designated areas of the facility.
