Shipping Supervisor

We are lookingfor an experienced Shipping manager to manage daily shipping and distributionoperations. You will be the one to ensure complete orders are shipped anddelivered in a timely manner. A successful shipping manager is analytical,well-organized and excels in communication. They must be comfortable withpaperwork and information systems and have great knowledge of shipping andreceiving procedures. The goal is to ensure that the shipping processes arerunning smoothly and effectively.

Responsibilities

·       Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications.

·       Assures that customer service is being provided to all productionlines: Mill, Finishing, HTL, & TTL. This will require interacting withemployees/supervisors/managers in each of the production lines to verify whenpipe is completed and needs to be moved to or from the pipe yard.

·       Interprets company policies to workers and enforces companypolicies and safety regulations.

·       Interprets specifications and job orders to workers, and assignsduties.

·       Assures that the pipe yard is well organized. This will includethat the product in the yard can be identified by batch number, location, etc.in the pipe yard.

·       Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet productionschedules.

·       Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipmentperformance, and quality of the product.

·       Assures that while in the pipe yard, the product will bepreserved/maintained and not damaged.

·       Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment toincrease the efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.

·       Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solvingwork problems.

·       Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve workgoals.

·       Maintains time and production records.

·       Performs activities of workers supervised.

·       Responsible for completing any assignments given by Supervisor,even those assignments not specifically listed in this job description.

Requirements:

·       Proven experience as shipping manager

·       Solid knowledge of logistics procedures

·       Experience in using EDI and preparing shipping documents (e.g. ASN)

·       Computer savvy with excellent knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel)

·       Good understanding of budgeting and reporting

·       Experience in directing and evaluating subordinates

·       Excellent organizational and communication skills

·       Attention to detail

·       Problem-solving abilities

·       High school diploma; BSc/BA in supply chain, logistics or relative field is a definite plus
