RESPONSIBILITIES
· PRINT OUT RESULTS OF UT SCAN AND PROVE-UP WHEN REQUESTED.
· MAINTAIN AFILE OF UT READOUTS.
· SUBMIT DAILYREPORTS ON PIPE ULTRASONICALLY INSPECTED.
· MAINTAINHOUSEKEEPING IN THE UT AREA.
· PERFORM OTHERFUNCTIONS ASSIGNED BY SUPERVISOR.
· OPERATESCONVEYORS TO MOVE THE PIPE TO AND FROM UT UNIT.
· CALIBRATES UTUNIT USING REFERENCE STANDARDS.
· SETS UT ANDEQUIPMENT FOR THE CORRECT SIZE.
· PREPARES UTFOR OPERATION.
· ULTRASONICALLYINSPECTS WELD LONGITUDINAL SEAM.
· INSPECTS SEAMTO DETERMINE IF A PIPE IS ACCEPTABLE UNDER THE APPLICABLE SPECIFICATION ANDCODE.
· USESULTRASONIC UNIT TO PROVE-UP INDICATIONS FROM THE UT SCANNING OPERATION.
· SENDS PIPE TOTHE PROVE-UP RACK TO SUBSTANTIATE UT FINDINGS THAT ARE NOT CLEARLY INDICATED ASPASSED OR FAILED.
· PREPAREREPORTS SHOWING PIPE NUMBERS AND ALL DATA APPLICABLE TO UT OF PIPE.
QUALIFICATIONS
· HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA, OR EQUIVALENCY CERTIFICATE, (GED, ETC.)
· 2 YEARS EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE IN RELATED FIELD OR, PROOF OF TRAINING IN AN AREA RELATED TO THE JOB ASSIGNMENT
· REASONABLE KNOWLEDGE IN HAND-HELD MEASURING DEVICES, GRINDING, OPERATION OF THICKNESS GAUGES, AND DEPTH GAUGES.
· MODERATE TO ADVANCED PC SKILLS IN MICROSOFT APPLICATIONS, IE, MS WORD, EXCEL, ACCESS, POWERPOINT
· ABLE TO READ, WRITE, SPEAK AND UNDERSTAND ENGLISH SUFFICIENTLY TO FOLLOW JOB AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS.
WORKING CONDITIONS
· WHILE PERFORMING THE DUTIES OF THIS JOB, THE EMPLOYEE IS REGULARLY EXPOSED TO MOVING MECHANICAL PARTS. THE EMPLOYEE IS OCCASIONALLY EXPOSED TO FUMES OR AIRBORNE PARTICLES, TOXIC OR CAUSTIC CHEMICALS, AND OUTSIDE WEATHER CONDITIONS. THE NOISE LEVEL IN THE WORK ENVIRONMENT IS USUALLY VERY LOUD.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
· ABILITY TO PERFORM LIGHT TO MEDIUM LIFTING AS NECESSARY.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
· LEVEL II ULTRASONIC METHOD, OR PROOF OF IN-HOUSE TRAINING PROGRAMS, ABILITY TO RUN ULTRASONIC UNIT FOR DETECTION OF IMPERFECTIONS
