As Utah's premier metal recycling center, our experience is second to none; and over the years we have worked with thousands of customers, from local residents with a few pounds of cans to large companies with truckloads of scrap material. Metro's Ferrous Department is seeking Shredder Production team members.
Typical Job Duties:
- Sort trash and other non-ferrous commodities from ferrous shred off a moving conveyor
- May be required to move scrap material with forklifts and skid loaders
- May be required to help with loading and unloading of containers
- Helps with housekeeping/including sweeping during down times including sweeping and picking up scrap and trash
- Responsible for observing and following all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment
- Must be willing to fill at other tasks when needed by supervisor such as maintenance of equipment.
- Overtime may be required
Need to complete Background screen, Drug Test
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Must be dependable and able to work graveyard shifts
- Repetitive motion required and ability to work standing next to a conveyor belt
- Ability to work as an effective team member as well as individually
- Willing to work outside in the heat of the summer and cold of the winter
- Good attendance and punctuality is a must
- Analytical and problem solving skills
- Regular exposure to dust and dirt
- Self-motivated and goal orientated
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach and work on your feet for extended periods of time
- The employee occasionally is required to lift up to 50 pounds
- The employee is frequently required to use hands, fingers; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel or crouch
