Test Engineer

Position Summary

The Testing Engineer oversees material testing, test equipment maintenance, root cause analysis for material quality concerns, technician training, and providing a clear understanding of how product needs are manifested in the material's physical properties. Advise if materials, parts, and processes for a given commodity meets or exceed customer and internal specifications and requirements.

Key Functions & Responsibilities of the Testing Engineer

• Maintain operation and maintenance of the materials testing laboratory and company flammability compliance programs.  
• Provide analytical and technical expertise to support product development as needed through material and prototype testing.  
• Perform calculations, interpretation of test results, data analysis, report writing, and maintaining complete records.  
• Provide guidance or training for other laboratory associates with material testing, root-cause investigation, technical issue evaluations, or new concepts and test methodologies.  
• Maintain and improve applicable programs in the laboratory to enhance process flow, testing accuracy, and cost reductions.  
• Schedule, coordinate and maintain records of equipment calibration and maintenance as needed.  
• Cooperate with parent company’s Development and Experiment Department.
• Availability to travel up to 25%, with some international travel.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required by business needs.  

Qualifications

Required Experience, Skills & Abilities of the Testing Engineer

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Textile engineering, or similar study.
• 3-5 years related experience.
• Advanced to expert understanding of material physical property testing.
• Knowledgeable in the use of test equipment, testing methodologies, MS Office Suite, and common laboratory software.
• Proficient in data analysis, and technical report writing.  
• Able to work in a multicultural environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• English required; (Japanese language skills a plus).
